Description
Working in to, on to, and through the surface: experiment with: stitch / print / rip, melt, and burn / mark and stain / layer, bond, and gild, and the many combinations of these to create luscious and diverse surfaces for use in your own designs and creative textile work.
Ailie has been working with textiles for more than thirty years now, regularly exhibiting and teaching around New Zealand, and more recently in Australia, Britain, and the United States. In her obsessively stitched work, she combines a wide variety of cloth, as well as paper, print, as well as paper, print, and found objects, to convey her ideas and feelings. Her books and textiles share a natural affinity, in material and concept, in material and concept, tactile experience, and use of visual language. www.ailiesnow.com
